Drum roll please...

We are proud to announce we now have extra studio space! With our photography and set build skills in high demand we have taken the decision to expand. We have taken on another daylight studio (on the floor above) giving us over 4000 square feet of space. Both spaces are daylight studios, the natural light really adds depth to our images. We couldn't wait to use the space and have recently done a photo shoot for Saplings in our new studio 2. If you would like to view our new space and see what we can offer your company please feel free to make an appointment with us and we'll show you round :-)

Showing products in a great light :-)

A few weeks ago we did a photo shoot for Dunelm Mill, We really enjoyed creating the set for all the lamps and ceiling lights. Large panelling was used to create the royal blue blocked background, individual pillars were constructed for some of the lamps to stand on and a high gloss back floor finished off the set perfectly, capturing the reflections. we all really love the finished image :-)

We also did the photography, set build and styling for their 'get the look' ranges, which included a Christmas dining room and a hotel inspired bedroom. Dunelm Mill are great clients to work for, and we really enjoyed adding our creative sparkle to their lighting department.

Vintage charm

Using vintage pieces in interior designs is very popular at the moment, and we took inspiration of current trends for our latest Tuiss shoot. Some of the props used in these sets are from Nash interiors in Nottingham lace market area, they have some breath-taking pieces to add that individual style you're after in your home. Our two country kitchen designs create a friendly farm-house feel. Props from our personal collection here in the studio were also used. Our stylists designed the concepts for each shot and were on-hand during the shoot to bring the sets to life. It went very well and we produced a set of images for their website. Our previous work for them is also on the website, simply go to their inspiration page.

The countdown to christmas begins!

The next Autumn/winter directory is out now featuring our photography and graphic design :-) We designed and styled 8 spreads for Christmas gifting, ranging from gifts for boys and girls, to gifts for pets. We had to have strong will power not to eat all the chocolate gifts that we photographed! Designing kid pages is always fun because of the freedom to use bright colours and fun illustrations. It was a sunny hot day when were photographing, which was very strange, I think the web designers downstairs thought we'd lost our minds slightly when we started bringing decorated christmas trees into the building in July! We had a selection of well-behaved little models who seemed more interested in the toys than the camera (which was certainly an advantage). The pet models we had in were very well trained, including the cat, although when it disappeared under the sofa we were a bit worried (no pets were harmed in the making of this catalogue!). You can view the full range of christmas gifts on their website, or order the new Next directory.

Baby Boutique

We had some very cute baby models for our mother and baby shoot for Next :-) This section features in the Next fashion directory. The most challenging image was a high chair shot designed by our stylist, which shows five children in five different high chairs at a birthday party. It was certainly an interesting day in the studio as kids will be kids, but we got the perfect shot! Next loved this image and we do too :-) and we can't wait to get creative in the next mother and baby shoot. Here at vanishing Point getting that perfect image is no.1 priority.

Busy Bees :-)

Here at VP we've been rushed off our feet recently (which is a great thing of course!) lots of exciting jobs with new clients and lots of preparation for the Next Christmas catalogue, in the world of design our seasons are backwards as we produce winter-themed photography in July :-) With a studio full of Christmas trees while it was one of the hottest days outside was quite surreal, but as a huge Christmas lover myself it was great fun! (although when I suggested Christmas songs to the team, that proved a step too far!). When the catalogue is released I will publish some of the photos on this blog.

The new Next catalogue also features flower spreads designed by us, the graphic design style was very different from the pages they had before, the patterned blocks work well to contain the text, and thin line work was used to direct the eye through the pages and section each product. The typography used is modern and clean, which I think works well with the imagery. Go team VP!

Is that an Airport?

Our luggage spread is now printed in the Next preview catalogue :-) If you're from Nottingham you might recognise the location we used... it was the Nottingham National ice centre. The large glass windows certainly gave us the airport look we were after, our model Jane was lovely and very professional (even with the occasional shouts from cars stopping at the lights!) The collection of camera equipment, lighting and stylists certainly got a lot of attention from people walking by. We had a very productive morning shooting to produce three different luggage shots for the spread. All the other product photos were taken in our studio, including cases and bags for the internet (some products were internet only and didn't feature in the catalogue). The graphic design was also done in-house, using the luggage stamp symbol as a decorative graphic with light coloured blocks to link the body copy to the images. Some photo-editing was involved to erase advertising posters off the building, to produce these clean, air port like images. Our thanks to the National Ice Centre for allowing us to use their building grounds for our shoot
:-)

Next preview catalogue out now!!

We can finally reveal our photography and graphics work for Next :-) The nursery section features in the Next directory Autumn/Winter, the preview catalogue is available now. We constructed detailed room sets to create cosy, lived in nurseries with lots of cute elements to really bring them to life :-) Our little models were mini stars and performed very well for our photographers. We always enjoy working with Next :-) The graphic design for each spread was also done in-house, careful consideration was given to each element to create clear layouts for the browsing customer. Mixing small illustrations, playful type and pastel colour blocks we created clear divisions between different ranges. Our Photographers and stylists worked very hard to create these beautiful sets and captured them perfectly.

Get The Look ;-)

For Dunelm Mill we produced a range of images for their 'Get The Look' promotion. 3 different sets were created: a dining room, bedroom and living space. Product placement was very important in this brief, the perfect set design was created using selected Dunelm products. The Vanishing Point team took on this challenge to create a collection of high quality images. The 'Get The Look' promotion was a success, and large posters of our images were displayed in Dunelm Mill stores all over the UK depicting the latest products in
achievable interior designs.

A touch of French Chic

Here at vanishing point we've been busy bees over the last few months working on lots of photography and graphic design projects with new and returning clients. Back in February we were given the opportunity of working with Dorma. Our photography was used for advertising within the Times newpaper, which all the team were very happy to see :-) We created 3 different bedroom sets which were styled and edited to create stunning images. Inspirations were taken from airy, French chic for the Hermione range, and bold lines with a masculine feel for the Harvana bedlinen. We enjoyed working with the Dorma team, and it was great to see our images in print.

This too shall pass OK Go, Posted by: Alice

Here at vanishing Point this video caught our eye, the band wanted "a giant machine that we dance with" and with this video (which appears to have been filmed in one continuous shot) the interaction between music, movement and machine seems flawless. With a comical ending to the video (view for yourself) we love it :-) it will certainly bring a smile to your face. OK Go is well known for their adventurous videos, the first one involving treadmills for their song 'here it goes'. We love this latest video treat and we're sure there is more quirky delights to come from these guys :-)

Happy St. David's Day! Posted by: Alice

last week we had another photo shoot and a graphic design brief for a fabric company (photos to be revealed soon) the shoot went very well, resulting in a collection of detailed and arty fabric shots. The graphic design work is in its final stages and we will post all final artwork on here as soon as the new ranges are released.

Happy St. David's day to all our welsh readers out there :-) We are enjoying a nice slice of bara brith in the office (if you've not heard of this cake before, give it try, it's a bit like a fruit cake).

Although our Tuiss photo shoot was back in November, I would like to share more of the photographs from the day on our blog. We are really proud of the images produced and would like to share them, especially as we can't share any of our current work with you right now, until product release dates ;-)

Brochure Design Posted by: Alice

We designed a 36 page brochure for Covercraft Upholstery which went to print in January, the client was very happy with the results. The upholstery company in long Eaton had previously relied on single-sided leaflets and now they're benefiting from a brand new brochure showing all their ranges, sizes and information. Covercraft recently exhibited at Birmingham interiors 2010 and the brochure was well received by potential customers.

The new furniture ranges for this brochure were taken by our Photography team. The layout of the brochure was designed in-house, mixing traditional and modern styles. We use a very reliable local printing company for all our work, colour and stock quality are very important. We will look forward to designing Covercraft's brochure for next year :-) visit their website to see the high quality furniture they offer, they also have a showroom in Long Eaton you can visit. below are some pages from the brochure.
